As a new father, I find this tribute so beautiful. I almost had me in tears - I thank the good bishop for his ministry, and for your ministry. God bless.
A wonderful and caring article that captured the rich complexity and talents of such a unique leader and preacher. I always found his articles rich and full of his Anglican Catholic sensibilities. Thank you for writing this.
That’s quite an encomium, Mark, for a complicated and always interesting man - and always challenging to write about a parent. It was so absorbing that it made me late for my self-imposed breakfast time. What a lot he gave, to you and clearly a wide and no doubt diverse crowd of supporters to whom he conveyed the heart of the matter. You write compellingly to remind us how full of light and shade all our lives are. Being a couple of years older(!) I recognise much that is of ‘our’ time, culturally. And one reflection: whatever the Church allows, never become a bishop when you’re 30 (or perhaps at all…)

Beautiful words capturing such complexity. Well done.

Thanks, Poppy. And, yes, I think 'Never become a bishop at 30' is very good advice, indeed!
